Senior AI Engineer

Join our engineering team to design and build production AI systems that power enterprise innovation at scale. You'll work directly with clients to architect solutions that turn hackathon-validated ideas into deployed products.

Remote (UK/EU) Remote £90,000 - £130,000 January 15, 2026

About the Role

As a Senior AI Engineer at Otinga, you will be at the intersection of cutting-edge AI research and real-world enterprise impact. Our clients are Fortune 500 companies and large enterprises who rely on us to transform their AI innovation pipelines from brainstorming sessions into production-grade systems.

You will work across the full lifecycle of AI products, from rapid prototyping during client hackathons to architecting scalable systems that handle millions of transactions. This is not a research role -- every line of code you write is aimed at delivering measurable business value.

What You'll Do

  • Architect AI systems that power our AI Innovation Engine and client-facing products, making key decisions on model selection, data pipelines, and infrastructure
  • Build production ML pipelines including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and deployment
  • Collaborate with clients during hackathons and workshops, providing technical guidance and turning validated ideas into implementation plans
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical design sessions
  • Drive engineering standards by contributing to our internal tooling, documentation, and best practices
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies for new AI capabilities (LLMs, multimodal models, agents)

How We Work

Our engineering team operates with high autonomy and low bureaucracy. We ship frequently, test rigorously, and believe in owning the full stack from data to deployment. We use:

  • Languages: Python, TypeScript
  • ML/AI: PyTorch, Hugging Face, LangChain, vector databases
  • Infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform
  • Data: PostgreSQL, Redis, Apache Kafka
  • Collaboration: GitHub, Linear, Notion, Slack

Why Otinga

Working at Otinga means seeing your work create tangible impact across multiple industries. In the past year alone, our engineering team has helped clients generate over $60M in validated business value. You will not be maintaining legacy systems or building features nobody uses -- every project has a clear business case and an engaged client waiting for results.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with at least 3 years focused on ML/AI systems
  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX)
  • Experience deploying and maintaining ML models in production environments
  • Solid understanding of MLOps practices including CI/CD, model monitoring, and experiment tracking
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams with product managers and designers

Nice to Have

  • Experience with LLM/GenAI application development (RAG, fine-tuning, prompt engineering)
  • Contributions to open-source ML projects
  • Experience in consulting or client-facing engineering roles
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI governance and responsible AI frameworks
  • Experience with real-time data processing (Kafka, Flink, or similar)
