Data Scientist

Apply advanced analytics and machine learning to solve complex business problems for enterprise clients. You'll work with diverse datasets across industries to uncover insights that drive strategic decisions and power AI innovation.

London, UK £70,000 - £100,000 January 20, 2026

About the Role

As a Data Scientist at Otinga, you will work directly with enterprise clients to turn raw data into actionable intelligence. Our clients span financial services, healthcare, insurance, and professional services, and each engagement brings a new set of challenges and datasets.

You will play a critical role in our hackathon methodology, helping client teams validate AI use cases with data-driven evidence during intensive innovation events. Between hackathons, you will build analytical models that underpin our AI Innovation Engine and support ongoing client engagements.

What You'll Do

  • Analyse client data to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities that inform AI use case validation
  • Build predictive models that quantify business impact for proposed AI initiatives, helping clients make confident investment decisions
  • Support hackathon events by providing real-time analytical guidance to participating teams, validating assumptions with data
  • Develop reusable analytical frameworks that accelerate future client engagements across similar industries
  • Create compelling data narratives through visualizations and presentations that resonate with C-suite audiences
  • Collaborate with engineers to transition successful models from prototype to production pipelines

What a Typical Week Looks Like

No two weeks are the same. In a given month, you might:

  • Spend a week on-site with a banking client, analysing transaction data to identify automation opportunities
  • Build a predictive model estimating ROI for a healthcare client's proposed AI triage system
  • Present findings to a client's executive team, translating statistical results into business recommendations
  • Facilitate a data deep-dive session during a 48-hour hackathon, helping six teams validate their ideas with evidence
  • Contribute to internal tools that automate common analytical tasks across engagements

Who You'll Work With

You will join a team of 5 data scientists and work closely with our engineering, product, and consulting teams. You will report to our Head of Data Science and have regular exposure to client executives and Otinga leadership.

  • Ability to translate business questions into analytical frameworks and communicate findings to executive audiences
  • Experience working with large, messy, real-world datasets
  • BSc or MSc in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or similar)
